Artist Statement
Photography and videography have been my starting point, a way for me to communicate when social anxiety made it difficult to express myself. Capturing nature through the lens has allowed me to share moments of peace and balance that I find in the natural world. This work gave me a foundation, but over time, I’ve realized I want to explore new creative directions.
After losing my sister in 2021 and spending months off-the-grid near Algonquin Park, I became more deeply connected to nature and sustainability. This shift has inspired me to move beyond photography and videography, focusing on folk art and creating pieces with recycled and reclaimed materials. For me, it’s about more than just capturing nature—it’s about interacting with it, honoring its cycles, and finding creative ways to work with what’s already available.
As I continue my journey as an artist, I’m excited to explore how reclaimed materials and traditional folk art can blend with my love for nature. This new direction feels like the next step in my growth, offering a way to merge my passion for the environment with hands-on, sustainable creativity.
